VMI started in a garage in California.
In 2019, we began by building small backyard patio covers, with our entire marketing strategy being nothing more than posting on Craigslist.
Our first big project was a $700 build that felt huge to us — and fast forward to today, we’re trusted by major government agencies and even work with Eric Trump, the President’s son.
Somewhere along the way we found that the industry standard for how someone purchases a steel building was deeply flawed, the industry is rife with miscommunication, under built processes and overall, a lackluster approach to what should be a celebratory process. That's why we've decided to invent on behalf of our customers.
Yes, VMI does supply buildings, and by all established industry standards does outperform the regular metrics of performance.
Though, inside our company, we truly believe we are reinventing what it means to get a steel building.
The clearest example of the need for a new way in steel buildings is found even in the initial deposit.
All other businesses in the industry require that their customers give them a 25% non-refundable deposit upfront, often citing a short term "deal" that the customer must move on or risk losing the deal - though there is no reason to have this non-refundable nature besides a lack of accountability on the suppliers part - simply because they do not check to see if their customer can even do the project with their permitting office.
VMI has completely flipped that upside down.
No longer does a customer have to risk their hard earned money with a business that does not take responsibility, now they can have the respect they deserve.
As a small example, VMI only requests a 5% fully-refundable initial deposit and directly contacts your exact permitting office to make sure that you can actually have what you want.
That's just one of the many inventions that we've designed to support hard working Americans who want independence through a steel building.
To us, a steel building is not just a building, but a representation of independence, hard work, and persistence.
